I came across a story about a book I want to read in 2020 called Essentialism-The Disciplined Pursuit of Less the author is Greg McKeown

Essentialism

In essence this book is about priorities.

In reading reviews about the book the quote McKeown uses just stuck with me.

“Remember that if you don’t prioritize your life someone else will.”

Greg McKeown

I loved one analogy about possessions the author makes. He says to think of all of the stuff in our lives like a clothing closet. He asked each of us to determine if there are clothes inside the closet that we overvalue.

Do we hang on to something that we seldom or never wear. When we own something our default setting is to overvalue it. When we overvalue something it becomes hard to let go of it. When it becomes hard to let go we begin to run out of room for the essential items.

The essence of ESSENTIALISM is to prioritize and purge the trivial to make room for the important.

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
