#Reading February 13

I had someone named Duke Dahl visit my website who has a fascinating READING website called Bullet Point Reading

He took the time to like a number of my posts earlier in the week. So naturally I went on his site and was amazed at the number of books he has reviewed. He has participated in READING Challenges in 2018, 2019, 2020, and in 2021.

What is fascinating is he takes on READING actively. He creates key points and quotes from each book in a easy format so they can be remembered and then he shares them. That is what I want to do today with my post.

I got engrossed reading his various book reviews and started copying quotes from his notes. Unfortunately I didn’t footnote what book each quote came and honestly I didn’t want to go back. I hope my laziness on this task will be countered by someone reading a message that Duke recorded that helps them live a better life.

Some of Duke’s notes

  • Our lives change when our habits change. New habits bring you life.
  • Your friendship with others is not to be taken lightly. You are changing the direction of your friends lives, for better or for worse. Sooner or later, we all rise or fall to the level of our friendships.
  • Proper apologies have three parts:
    1) What I did was wrong.
    2) I feel badly that I hurt you.
    3) How do I make this better?
  • Be careful whom you associate with. It is human to imitate the habits of those with whom we interact. We inadvertently adopt their interests, their opinions, their values, and their habit of interpreting events. All of these people can affect your destiny. The key is to keep company only with people who uplift you, whose presences calls forth your best.
  • Emotions don’t settle upon you like a fog. They are not foisted upon you by others. No matter how uncomfortable it might make you feel saying it – others don’t make you mad. You make you mad. You and only you create your emotions.
  • To improve is to change; to perfect is to change often.” -Winston Churchill

Duke is also doing a READING Challenge for 2021 with his books posted online-If you want to follow it here is the link
