#SongLyricSunday-Carolina In My Mind-February 14

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

This week our host Jim Adams for Song Lyric Sunday has given us the prompt of “Brain/Mind/Think”. The goal is to find a song that contains would have that concept in song title or in lyrics.

Take some time to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this music challenge, and even better, read as many of them as you are able to as you will probably find many enjoyable songs and it is quite possibly that you will learn a thing or two.

Here are the “rules”:
• Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it contains the prompt words or not.  If it does not meet the criteria, then please explain why you chose this song.
• Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.  Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be.
• Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
• Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
• Ping back to this post or place your link in the comments section below.
• Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
• Feel free to suggest future prompts.
• Have fun and enjoy the music.

I have chosen a James Taylor song “Carolina In My MIND”. I choose the song for the regional ties I have living in North Carolina but also because I am certain that my friend Jeff Neelon is going to share with some interesting fact about James Taylor and his family.

Jeff grew up in Chapel Hill and so did James Taylor. James Taylor and Jeff Neelon both migrated to Chapel Hill from Massachusetts. James Taylor’s dad Dr. Isaac Taylor M.D took a job as an assistant professor of medicine at UNC Chapel Hill. James and his family moved to North Carolina when he was 3.

James Taylor life was not without struggles. He wrote this song in the late 1960s while in London, England. At the time he had just signed to the vanity label ‘Apple Records’ (yes, of The Beatles fame) and was recording his debut album, which was called James Taylor.

Here are the songs that were on that album including “Carolina in My Mind”

Here are the lyrics:

Here is video of James Taylor performing the song in 1970.

Okay Jeff Neelon spice up my post.
