For March 2024 several of us will be participating in the “30-Day Shout-Out Coach4aday Challenge”. Today the recipient is WILLIAM GENTRY.

Willaim Gentry is a retired educator, past president of Kiwanis of Robeson Lumberton, and in 2024 a candidate for re-election to the Robeson County School Board.

The first two rounds of March Madness are completed, and we have witnessed celebration from the victorious teams. We often get to see the emotional angst of those teams, coaches, and fans of teams on the losing end. How individuals handle winning and losing speaks volumes about who they are.

William lost his bid for re-election earlier this month, but he handled his reaction with class and professionalism. He even sent me a personal thank-you note.

Rules of the Challenge

Organizing and participating in the 30-Day Shout Coach4aday Challenge is very simple. Below are the steps.

Here is how to participate.

  1. Identify who gets the daily Shout-Out and make sure they know you are recognizing them.
  2. Describe why you giving them a Shout-Out-what are they doing that is notable?

March 26th-William Gentry

From October 2014 to September 2015 William was the President of Kiwanis of Robeson Lumberton. His signature motto at every meeting, event, or interaction with others that year was to “Keep It Booming”.

William Gentry is a man that really believes in the Kiwanis mission is “to serve the children of the world”. He does that by really getting engaged in our local community. He also model to many of us what dignity and respect looks like even when the results in a contest aren’t in your favor.

Keep It Booming William!!!

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
