Today is Veterans Day. My dad and my father-in-law were both Veterans of WWII.
Thankfully, not every Veteran that has served our country has had to go into a battle because of a war. That is a good thing.
There have been 16 films that have won the Oscar for best film set against the backdrop of war. Each movie has a hero or heroes.
I found a link on the web with a description of all sixteen.
Of the 16 here are the nine I have seen:
“Braveheart” (1995)
“The Deer Hunter” (1978)
“Patton” (1970)
“Lawrence of Arabia” (1962)
“The Bridge on the River Kwai” (1957)
“From Here to Eternity” (1953)
“Casablanca” (1943)
“Gone with the Wind” (1939)
“All Quiet on the Western Front” (1929/1930)
To all the Veterans and those still serving in our military THANK YOU! Each of you is a hero.
