For February 2024 several of us will be participating in the “30-Day RE Coach4aday Challenge”. The challenge involves utilizing a word that includes the prefix Re. Today my word is RE-ELECTION.
Last week I agreed to volunteer at the poll during early voting to assist a candidate who is seeking Re-election to a local office. While there I began to wonder how many leaders in Congress have successfully been reelected.
Rules of the Challenge

February 19-Getting reelected
The US House of Representatives comprises 435 members. Re-election in this body fosters seniority, which plays a crucial role in securing favorable committee assignments, leadership positions, and even office space allocation.
Currently, out of the 435 members of the US House of Representatives, 151 have served for more than 10 years, having been re-elected four or more times. Conversely, there are 77 members who are in their first term and have never been re-elected. That equated to 82% of Congress has navigated a re-election.
While some may argue that Congress is ineffective in various aspects, one cannot deny its proficiency in securing re-elections.
