#Detox October 6

Last month I attempted to merge two habits into one. I combined box breathing and embracing silence. The purpose was to begin each morning by quieting the mind.
In our society there is no stigma in going thru DETOX with our bodies.
We will attempt to cleanse our bodies by eliminating all types of potential unhealthy items including sugar, salt, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, cholesterol, and saturated fat. There are all types of diets, programs, and ideas on how to DETOX our bodies.
One of my favorite story tellers and/or self improvement authors is Brene Brown. She is a proponent of mindfulness.
Brene is constantly reminding her readers and audiences to stop chasing what you think the world wants you to be and embrace who you actually are. This change of thinking requires a clear mind, an unfiltered view, and the willingness to DETOX the brain.
To DETOX our mind we need to start with removing all the clutter that is already dominating our thoughts. Thomas Merton said, “God cannot fill a heart or mind that is already full.”
One of the blogs I follow is The Daily Coach. Last week the blog offered up techniques to help DETOX the mind. Here are three of them.
1. Begin. Start new. Much like we do every new year, but never keep, take inventory of your life and decide what needs to change. Make notes, and create a short sentence to serve as your daily reminder.
2. Spend time outside. Park far away from the elevator, smell the fresh air, and plan an outdoor activity. Make the outdoors your think place.
3. Ditch the phone. Schedule your calendar for no technology time for at least an hour a day. Try these ways to declutter your phone from your life.
Our brain and mind can accomplish great things but it can’t if we bog it down with toxins. DETOX your mind.
