Our lives often find us in conflict with being in COMMAND or being commanded.

It can occur on many levels. We can find ourselves in this dilemma professionally, socially, and as part of a relationship.

As a human being, it’s part of our DNA to want to belong or accepted. Abraham Maslow talks about this in his hierarchy of needs.

Each of us has a different purpose in life, different goals, different hopes and different dreams. When you attempt to gain favor of those that are in conflict with your aspirations they become in COMMAND. In essence that approval is commanding you.

The problem with being in COMMAND of your own life involves risk. The risk that you will stand out. The risk that you might not be accepted by all.  Being in COMMAND of your life means being authentic.

I came across a quote attributed to an actress I never heard of before Jennifer Freeman.

“You are far too smart to be the only thing standing in your way.”

Stop looking for the approval of others and approve yourself. When that occurs you are in COMMAND.
