Today is the BIRTHDAY of my next-door neighbor’s daughter Chelsea Biggs Memory. Her mom Bonnie and dad Kenny have been fantastic friends for almost twenty-five years. It is also cool that today is 2/22/22.

Chelsea is not the only one that gets to celebrate today. February 22nd just happens to be the BIRTHDAY of people past and present. The list includes George Washington (1732-1799)-Julius Erving (Age 71)-Frederic Chopin (1810) and Ted Kennedy (1932).

Birthday Gifts

This month I stumbled an article about the best BIRTHDAY gift someone received. The article included some materialistic gifts like cars, money, and stocks. Yet, the majority of people responding talked about the best gift being relational versus transactional. One of those was a piece of poetry.

It was a poem written by a friend as a gift on her special day. As part the 30-Day Poetry Coach4aday Challenge I wanted to find that poem and read it. It is called “You Are My Greatest Blessing“, and it was written by Florica Flores.

I am going to be honest this is not the best poem I have read this month, but it made me think about friendship and gifts. The concept of providing someone an experience or investing your time in that relationship is truly the greatest BIRTHDAY blessings. As we get older, I truly believe that the best gifts are not materialistic but consist of time, experiences, and being in the company of family and friends.

Hoping those important gifts are the blessing everyone gets on their BIRTHDAY!
