#Poetry February 1

For February the Coach4aday Challenge for the month will be POETRY. Please know I acknowledge the groans of annoyance or disinterest from some.

Last month 30-Day Sugar Detox Challenge taxed me both mentally and physically. Moving forward onto something new I didn’t want to endure that again this month. During the latter part of January my thoughts of the next challenge kept bringing up reading. The problem with a reading challenge for me is it would not be unique. In March of 2020, myself and others took on a 30-Day Book Challenge.

Striving to make reading part of the 26th Coach4aday Challenge was going to require some tweaking. Here is a list of the previous 25 Challenges.

What I decided was to make reading POETRY each day the new quest.

How to do a 30-Day Poetry Challenge

As in the past there are no hard and fast rules on how one decides to participate in a #Coach4adayChallenge. Additionally, not every challenge will appeal to everyone. Yet, if you want to add a new dimension to your reading here is how you might go about it.

Online resources delivered by a daily email may prove to be the simplest solution for most people including myself.

  1. Go to Poets.Org
  2. In the search engine find the link to Poem of the Day
  3. At this link you have the option to sign up for their free daily email which includes the Poem of the Day

If you don’t want to sign up for the daily email you can just go to the website each morning and read the poem that way.

Second method for completing the challenge would be create a list of poems to read in February.

For example, I located a website called “Inkings and Inklings” that has a post about 30 Poems You Should Read.

Why Poetry

Maybe the simplest answer is to use the power of POETRY to reflect. Digging deeper maybe it is method to escape escape our troubles and worries. One tangible result will be an improvement in vocabulary. Today I read “Apparitions” by Stephane Mallarme and came across the word “seraphim” which I looked up.
