Today reading for the 30-Day Poetry Coach4aday Challenge is called the ODE 1:11.

Horace is the author of the ODE. Quintus Horatius Flaccus was his full name, and he was the leading Roman Poet during the time of Augustus. Horace had quite the life and one of his accomplishments was authoring numerous books including the First Book of Odes which contained the poem I read.

ODE 1:11

Meaning of the ODE

First thing is we need to realize that this poem was not written in English it was done in Latin. One Latin phrase that most of us recognize is “Carpe Diem”.

Sometimes when you combine poetry you are not familiar with alongside a culturally popular movie scene you come away with the meaning.
