Today for the 30-Day Sign Coach4aday Challenge I am focusing on how to sign on with an AGENT.

In the world of sports, art, music, and literature one step to some form of financial prosperity is signing with an AGENT. Mirriam Webster defines “signs” as “to engage or hire by securing the signature of on a contract of employment“. There have been blockbuster movies made about representing a performer including “Jerry McGuire“. That movie produced the powerful catch phrase “Show Me the Money”.

Nickolas Sparks has authored 20 novels to date. One website estimates his net worth at 40-Million dollars. His story of going from a pharmaceutical sales rep job in Greenville SC to selling his first novel to Warner Books. That all came about from the work of his Literary AGENT Theresa Park.

Finding an Agent

Writers should pay attention to some of the advice Nicholas Sparks offers on his website. One specific chapter is how he approached finding someone to represent him. He reviews the importance of a query letter. Being consumed with it being perfect Spark’s went thru 17 drafts and took 2 weeks to finish.
