This national flag consists of a green field with a white crescent and five stars. It also has a claret stripe showing five carpet patterns along with an olive wreath.

  1. Meaning of Colors: Green represents Islam, which is the dominant religion in this country. It is also a symbol of fertility, nature, and the importance of agriculture in the country. The green color signifies the country’s commitment to Islam and its natural resources.
  2. Five Carpet Designs: The five carpet designs on the left side of the flag are known as “guls” and are arranged vertically. Each gul represents one of the five major tribes of the country: Teke, Yomut, Arsary, Chowdur, and Saryk.
  3. Adoption: The flag was officially adopted on February 19, 1992, after the country gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. It replaced the flag used during the Soviet era.
