I have begun to follow my own advice and listen to various podcasts when I am in the car. I recently listened to a Tim Ferris Podcast.

Podcast by Tim Ferris

I read a book by Tim Ferris written in 2007 called The Four Hour Workweek

The biggest lesson I got from Tim’s book is we should pursue what gets us excited.

Last Friday on a drive to South Carolina I listened to Tim Ferris interview Ben Horowitz

The podcast spent a lot of time talking about CULTURE on a team or in the workplace. Ben Horowitz has written two books that I am going to put on my future reading wish list.

1. The Hard Thing About Hard Things

2. What You Do is Who You Are

As I listened to the podcast it became evident that a simple truth about creating a CULTURE boils down to this.

CULTURE is not a set of beliefs but a set of actions.

CULTURE begins with each of us. It is fluid and we are continuously, consistently building that CULTURE not by what we think or say but by our actions and habits. The simple yet difficult thing is we have control of who we are, how we treat others and how we let others treat us. We have control over what we accept from the people around us.
