#Class November 15

Today in Lumberton NC a new restaurant will open called Your Pie. I am excited about the people involved with this business along with the idea they will serve pizza and craft beer.

Your Pie owners on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday invited their family, friends, and community leaders to soft openings. Some of those leaders are also restaurant owners in Lumberton but one of them demonstrated to me what CLASS looks like this week.

When you own a business or are in a profession where competition is a big component it is easy to have a default setting of dislike. You don’t care for any new start-ups. That setting is triggered by a paradigm of every professional interaction must be I WIN and YOU LOSE. Some just call it a Win-Lose mentality.

Then there are the special leaders who view each interaction as a WIN-WIN. They possess an abundance mentality about life versus a scarcity mentality.

The leader this week that showed CLASS is Arnold West who owns two restaurants called Arnold’s and The Village Station. You often see Arnold around town with his dear friend Lee Scott.

Arnold West and Lee Scott

What does a leader who has CLASS do when a new competitor opens up? He sends them flowers and card welcoming them to the community.

If that wasn’t enough Arnold and Lee went to the soft opening to wish them well. CLASS is hard to describe but easy to observe. It is easy to see CLASS in Arnold and Lee.
