This is a post on a question that popped into my mind.

Just how many CLOTHES do you need?

Since I retired I have noticed I really don’t wear half of what I did when I was working. I think retired means practical not fashionable which equates to less CLOTHING.

We continue to purge in our house for a variety of reasons. Over the weekend my wife donated three large bags of CLOTHES to a local non-profit.

Alliance Data came up with some analytics for women.

Here is what they found out. Women have lots of blouses with 37 percent of women owning between 25 and 49 blouses. When it comes to shoes the research indicated 32 percent owning more than 25 pairs of heels, flats, boots, etc. Women do show restraint with blue jeans with over 60 percent of women reporting to own less than ten pairs.

It is not just women that have lots of CLOTHES. Men are guilty also. So what would be the minimum amount of apparel one should have?

I also stumbled on to a website called Mr. Alife who recommends the following for a man who wants a minimalist wardrobe.

I realized I do not have Brown Chelsea boots or a Olive Chinos but other than that I am set.

The volume of CLOTHES it is probably something we don’t want to take inventory of. Most of us wait until we run out of storage space and then it is out with the old and back shopping for something new.

Not sure I know the perfect answer on how much CLOTHING I need, but I am convinced I have enough.
