It has been about 6 weeks since I participated in this weekly adventure. Several followers of this blog inquired if I would pick it back up and I promised them I would. So as Frank Constanza said “I’m Back Baby”

Louisiana Women-Mississippi Man

This past week an iconic figure from the world of country music died. Loretta Lynn was 90 years old when she passed away on October 4, 2022. She made her birthplace Butcher Hollow KY famous in her song Coal Miner’s Daughter. That song begins with the lyrics below:

“Well, I was born’d a coal miner’s daughter. In a cabin on a hill in Butcher Holler.“

My song this week is to honor the legacy of Loretta Lynn. I have chosen Louisiana Women-Mississippi Man which was a duet she sang with Conway Twitty whose given name was Harold Lloyd Jenkins. Music for this song has a strong Cajun theme and was written by Nashville singer-songwriters Becki Bluefield and Jim Owen.

Twitty and Lynn were not romantically involved but were a super professional recording duo. Together they put out 11 albums that produced 5 #1 Country hits.
