#Train February 24

Not often, but I do occasionally read past posts I have written. Reading one last week I re-discovered that the TRAIN first came to Greenville NC in 1890. That word was reinforced last night as a long freight train woke me from a deep sleep as it passed thru town at 3:00 a.m.

For some odd reason the word TRAIN took me back to a grade school poem that was called The Railway Train. I could not remember all of it but did recall the chorus. Researching that piece of poetry was my objective for today’s 30-Day Poetry Coach4aday Challenge.

The Railway Train

This poem was often sung as a song in school. The children had a part in the chorus so maybe that is what I remembered. In the chorus the children imitate the action of ringing a fireman’s bell and clap their hands at the words puff, puff, puff.

Here is the complete poem and its author is unknown.
