For the month of July 2024 several of us are going to take on a 30-Day Nickname Coach4aday Challenge. The simple concept is to share a nickname and tell a little about who it is associated with and why they got tagged with that moniker. Today I’m going with a TV commentator who joined ESPN one month after it was founded and is called SWAMI.

Chris Berman, who joined ESPN at the age of 24 just one month after the network’s launch, adopted the alter ego of “The Swami.” From the start, he embraced the role of a prognosticator, giving himself the nickname “The Swami.”

Nickname 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines.

  1. Each day in July learn something or just appreciate a nickname associated with someone.
  2. Share that name with others
  3. If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms

July 20th-Swami

Chris Berman has been associated with for a long time because of memorable moments on the air. Some of them included when he was in the role of the Swami.
