For the month of October, I am participating in a 30-Day Sitting and Rising Coach4aday Challenge.

Denial about one aspect of my fitness is over for me. At this very moment I am not very flexible. Setting out on a journey to see if I can improve. Accepting this self-evaluation came from reading an article on simple tests that have a remarkable ability to predict longevity. One of those was the SITTING and RISING test.

Early this week I attempted the test three times. I scored a 3, a 4, and an 8. That score of 8 can best be described as an outlier. Divine intervention during the last attempt enabled me to contort my body in some unnatural angles. I was on the edge of having to make an appointment with an orthopedic specialist. That score of 8 is being thrown out. My conclusion is that my starting baseline score is 3.5 not very good.

30 Day Sitting and Rising Challenge

At the end of this month, I am going to retest myself after doing exercises for 30 days in an attempt to improve. Jon Pearlstone the founder of the EET Fitness Plan came up with a set of daily exercises to do each day. His exercises are modified depending on where you scored. For me it will be the beginning level. He also has Intermediate and Gold Standard levels. The goal is to attempt to progress over time to each level.

The video below explains those daily exercises at each level. Jon also demonstrates how to do them.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
