For February 2024 several of us will be participating in the “30-Day RE Coach4aday Challenge”. The challenge involves utilizing a word that includes the prefix Re. Today my word is REDO.
People around the globe become frustrated while watching sporting events when officials make unfavorable calls. I became part of that frustrated crowd in 1972 during the basketball competition at the Olympics. In that year, officials controversially called for a redo during a game between the Soviet Union and the USA. Consequently, this incident marked the first time the USA basketball team ever experienced a loss in Olympic competition.

February 13-1972 Olympic Basketball USSR-USA
The first time the USA Men’s Basketball team lost in the Olympics was in 1972. This loss occurred in controversial circumstances during the last three seconds of the gold medal match against the Soviet Union at the Munich Olympics.
The 51-50 loss was the first defeat in 64 games in Olympic competition for the American men, whose team was composed of college players.
The Soviets won the gold-medal contest after confusion over timeouts and the game clock led to the final three seconds being replayed twice.
