Bonnie Raitt’s album NICK OF TIME is what gets profiled today in the 30 Day Album #Coach4adayChallenge.

In a previous post I mentioned that Rolling Stone Magazine rated the top 500 albums of all time. Bonnie Raitt found the list at #492 with her 10th album. NICK OF TIME actually brought to her some commercial success. She actually began recording in the 1970’s but it wasn’t until this album got released in 1989. When the Grammy’s rolled around in 1990 this album won three awards including “Album of the Year”

Nick of Time by Bonnie Raitt

The 1990 Grammy’s saw Bonnie Raitt win in four categories: Album of the Year; Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female; Best Rock Vocal Performance, Female; and Best Traditional Blues Recording (with John Lee Hooker).  That is pretty amazing that a few years earlier she was considered to be on a downward spiral professionally and personally. As an artist she was consider not worthy of a record deal and she was dealing with alcoholism.

She got sober and recorded the album. Many people have stated that this album is a fantastic take on the mid-life crisis from the perspective of a female. The album is full of thought provoking lines about life’s challenges

There is this from the title track Nick of Time

A friend of mine, she cries at night

And she calls me on the phone

Sees babies everywhere she goes

And she wants one of her own

She’s waited long enough she says

And still he can’t decide

Then there is this from Have A Heart

Album Discography

Glad I gave this album a listen
