For January 2023 the 30-Day Challenge is going to be a MOVIE.

Today not only begins a new year but the 37th consecutive 30-Day Coach4aday Challenge. You can find a list of the previously completed challenges at this link.

This challenge will involve a couple of different approaches. Excited that my challenge sidekicks Jeff Neelon and Jaclyn Donovan are onboard.

30 Day Movie Coach4aday Challenge Guidelines

There are two options you can select to participate in this challenge.

Option 1 -Respond to a Daily Prompt

This option asks you to respond to a daily prompt.

Each day take the daily prompt and spend time responding.

If you do share it on social media, consider using the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

Daily list of MOVIE prompts is found below.

Option 2Watch a Movie Each Day

Each day carve out time to watch a film. This will require much more time than Option 1, but I am retired so time is available to me.

The definition of film does include documentaries, movies, and for me 30 for 30 episodes found on ESPN. If you need suggestions on what film to watch, I have included some links.

Day 1-The Last Days of Knight

I selected a film that can be found on ESPN + called The Last Days of Knight.

It was released in 2018 and is the story of Indiana’s basketball coach Bob Knight who won three NCAA Championships before being fired. It was intriguing to me on a number of different fronts.

My high school basketball coach took me and several classmates to West Point to watch a college basketball game in the late 1960’s. Army’s coach at the time was Bob Knight.

As a young coach his basketball teaching philosophies especially on how to coach zone offense were techniques I embraced.

Third and finally it galvanizes something we all need to remember the public persona and the authentic personality are often different. It was sad to see a leader who refused for whatever reason to change. It is also points out that smart people when they attempt to manipulate the truth often look very dumb.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
