Today for the 30-Day Movie Coach4aday Challenge I watched a movie on ELEPHANTS.

For this challenge I went searching for a documentary that would be under an hour long. Looking at options that were available on Netflix I located a 41-minute film directed by Kartiki Gonsalves. This was her first film.

The Elephant Whisperers’

My documentary was titled “The Elephant Whisperer’s. It is set in the Theppakadu camp at Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. It is located in the southern portion of India. The red pin on map below shows its location.

What I enjoyed about the film were how an indigenous couple Bomman and Bellie, devote their lives to caring for an orphaned baby elephant named Raghu. The movie grabs you with the natural beauty and abundance of wildlife you find in Southern India.

It is also an eye opener for the power of that couple’s faith in their Hindu beliefs. They are dedicated to the concept if they take care of the earth and its elephants it will take care of them. Lastly Bomman and Bellie happiness has nothing to do with materials things. They have smiles on their faces when they are serving the Elephants.

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
