Today for the 30-Day Movie Coach4aday Challenge I watched a movie about the AMISH.

There are a number of films that feature the Amish characters. Here is a list of 11 that I located on 2paragraphs.com The film I watched was not on the list and was much historical than those 11.

The Amish and the Reformation

My selection was found on Amazon Prime and was titled The Amish and the Reformation.

The film provides a concise history lesson on Reformation. Watching it for that purpose alone gave it value to me. It begins its 55-minute journey by outlining why the reformation started, how it evolved and finally how their faith came to be. The events highlighted during the two thousand years of Christianity are full of examples of religion trying to exercise control over its congregations. Each one was not in harmony with the teachings of Jesus. Many of those control measures have led others to walk away from one religion and search for another. That is certainly true for the Amish.

Interesting Amish facts I learned included that preachers are chosen by lots with no training required, that they only use Martin Luther German Bibles which most Amish cannot read, their spoken language is Pennsylvania Dutch, and English.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
