#Memory March 6

One idea for a 30 Day Challenge is to improve your MEMORY.

You will not have to look far to find brain training software available to purchase. I wanted to get some ideas that didn’t require a purchase of a program or lessons. Here is what I can offer up.

A lot of researchers have indicated that MEMORY is improved when we stick to real life exercises. Remembering people’s names seems to be at the top of the list.

Here is a 30 Day Challenge that is free and would be easy to do. Each day make a list. That list should be something that involves everyday activities. One example is to write down a 10-15 item grocery store list and put it away.

Look at it one hour later and see how many items you can recall. You could repeat this every day and increase total # of items as you get better. The key is each day it is a new list. That new list does not have to be grocery items. It could be a list of cities, candy bars, or automobiles.

A second way to incorporate improving MEMORY over 30 days is to utilize mnemonics.

Here is a video by Socratica on how to apply a mnemonic technique in recalling the names of the first 10 US Presidents.

Keep in mind that any type of activity to improve MEMORY always seems to be improved when we utilize images to assist us.

Like any 30 Day Challenge the real goal is not to obtain some short term gain or to become a one trick pony. What the outcome should be is the creation of daily habit that improves our MEMORY.
