Today is the last day of the 30 Day Album #Coach4adayChallenge and I choose to end the month listening to LITTLE FEAT.

The first live album for LITTLE FEAT was titled “Waiting for Columbus” and came out in 1978 as a double LP. The seventeen songs on this album came from 7 different live concerts performed in Washington DC at Lisner Auditorium and Rainbow Theater in London.

People that have never listened to “LITTLE FEAT” might be hard pressed to describe their style. One critic said it was “California rock, funk, folk, jazz, country, rockabilly, and New Orleans swamp boogie”. The band was originally formed by a couple of fantastic musicians namely Lowell George and Billy Payne.

There are 17 songs on this album and I love a bunch of them. One of my favorite songs of all time is “Spanish Moon” which describes a pretty down and out dive bar. Some of the lyrics might give you a feel for the place.

Well I stepped inside, and stood by the door
While a dark girl sang, and played the guitar
There was hookers, and hustlers, filled up the room
I heard about this place they call the Spanish Moon
One false step, you get done in
It’s a cold situation
Don’t care who, you could all face ruin
You could lose it all down at the Spanish Moon
