Getting to be part of a GATHERING of friends especially to support a great cause makes me happy. COVID took that away for 15 months and I am glad it can happen again.

Two years ago I was part of a get together I will never forget. 20 couples gathered in Myrtle Beach SC and had a pool party. This was no ordinary backyard pool or any ordinary GATHERING. Here is our group on the steps to the pool in front of the outdoor sports bar.

The commonality for all that attended was friend that lived in Myrtle Beach but worked in North Carolina.. His name was Steven Bourquin and he died in September 2018. He had lots of friends including a group from Myrtle Beach SC that hosted the party. Steven worked at UNC Pembroke and a group from Lumberton NC were invited to attend to celebrate his life. The pool party brought was a GATHERING that brought us all together.

The home we were at belonged to David and Adrienne depicted below and what they have done to their backyard is phenomenal.

Over the past decade they took a residential backyard and transformed it into what they call St. Ruff’s Caribbean Resort. More amazing is David has done most of the work with the help of friends. They have every right to call it a resort based on what we experienced one afternoon with them.

Here is what we experienced at this GATHERING. They had a Tiki -hut swim-up bar, outdoor theater with fabulous seating, stage for live music, a restroom, and a sports bar all adjacent to their pool. Everything you see below is in their backyard surrounding their POOL.

There are many GATHERINGS that have been memorable in my life but this one really made me happy.
