Today’s #Coach4aday post is utilizing the time when you COMMUTE to learn and grow.

Since I live in North Carolina I wanted to share some data about commuting to work in the “Tar Heel State“. North Carolina’s Department of Commerce several years ago determined that the average North Carolinian spent almost 25 minutes a day traveling to work. Almost half of all workers in the state work in a county they do not live in. This time traveling is an opportunity to learn and grow.

Ideas

Listen to audiobooks: Audiobooks are a great way to learn new things and keep your mind engaged during your commute.

Listen to podcasts: Podcasts are another great way to learn on the go. There are podcasts on just about every topic imaginable, from personal development to politics to pop culture.

Listen to TED Talks: TED Talks are informative and engaging talks on a wide variety of topics.

Results

Makes use of otherwise unproductive time: Commuting can be a time-consuming and often unproductive activity. However, using this time to learn something new can make you feel more productive and accomplished.

Helps to expand knowledge and skills: By listening to audiobooks, podcasts, or TED Talks, you can expand your knowledge on a wide range of topics, and even develop new skills that can benefit you both personally and professionally.

If you apply this technique it can add up to almost 6 hours of learning and growing a month all while on a COMMUTE to work.
