Today for the 30-Day Podcast Coach4aday Challenge my theme is COLLEGE.

There is a growing trend in this country that is turning against the theory that COLLEGE is one of the best investment a person can make. Many have begun to question the cost of education, they wonder if a university can prepare you to earn a competitive wage, and have campuses become too politicalized.

Chris Paxson is an economist and also a college president at Brown University. She became a guest on the podcast called Freaknomics Radio which is hosted by Stephen Dunbar. He is a journalist who writes for the New York Times, The New Yorker and is the author of the books “Turbulent Souls” and “Confessions of a Hero Worshipper”. One interesting nugget about Dunbar is he attended Appalachian State University.

There is a group of schools called 568 Group. It is affiliation of colleges and universities, all of which must admit students on a need-blind basis. They are currently subjected to a lawsuit for that methodology.

Gender breakdown at colleges women make up 59.5 percent of college students, that’s an all-time high, and men, about 40 percent.
