Today the theme for the 30-Day Podcast Coach4aday Challenge is BEER.

One of the wonderful things about podcasts is the depth of detail that many episodes go into about a topic. One area that fits that bill is a BEER Podcast. In fact, there is a website dedicated to brews called Hop Culture. It was created in 2016 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to provide independent craft beer journalism. They recently did a post on the “9 Best Beer Podcasts” and one show on the list was “Better on Draft”

The episode I listened to on Better on Draft episode called Firestone Walker Episode 285. The guest on the show was Sam Tierney head brewer of Firestone Walker‘s R&D brewhouse The Propagator.

Takeaways

This episode was very interesting to me because it focused on the importance of innovation.

In 2014 I began tracking on Untappd every unique beer I have sampled. At the present time that number is in excess of 1100 beers. Of that total I have had six from Firestone Walker. That list is below.

Firestone Walker is a California brewery that places a high emphasis on R&D including collaborating with Russian River Brewing. I also learned about how one of one of my favorite stouts Mocha Merlin was brewed with oats.
