Reading biographies often will teach you something interesting. That is the case with the inventor of the 8 TRACK player.

Often people become so synonymous with something associated with their name we might not realize what other accomplishments they have had in their life. That is the case with William Powell Lear.

Lear Jets and 8 Track Players

William “Bill” Powell Lear is the recognizable founder of Lear Jets. His life is fascinating and not entirely filled with success stories. 8 TRACK players in cars were very prevalent in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. The first car manufacture to offer a factory installed player was Ford in 1966.

Powell took the existing 4 track technology that existed in the 1960’s and created the 8 TRACK.

There is a YouTube channel called “Feed My Curiosity” which has a short YouTube video on the inventor of the 8 TRACK player.
