Today is Veterans Day and Netflix is going to air a new WAR MOVIE today. Today’s weather forecast may keep me off the golf course along with testing the capacity of my UDOMETER (30 Day Vocabulary Challenge).

The film released today will be a limited four-part series, called The Liberator. The movie follows the true story of a group of soldiers called the Thunderbirds which consisted of Native Americans (from over 52 different tribes), Mexican Americans, and white cowboys from the Dust Bowl of the US. The Thunderbirds were actually the 157th Infantry Battalion of the 45th Division out of Oklahoma.

There have been 16 films that have won the Oscar for best film set against the backdrop of war.

I found a link on the web with a description of all sixteen.

Of the 16 here are the nine I have seen:

“Braveheart” (1995)

“The Deer Hunter” (1978)

“Patton” (1970)

“Lawrence of Arabia” (1962)

“The Bridge on the River Kwai” (1957)

“From Here to Eternity” (1953)

“Casablanca” (1943)

“Gone with the Wind” (1939)

“All Quiet on the Western Front” (1929/1930)

I plan on watching the Liberator today.
