#Magnificent November 10

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

When I think of the word MAGNIFICENT my thoughts turn to someone or something that is excellent. I do not think of someone who is permanently stuck in a FOSS (30 Day Vocabulary Challenge). If anything I gravitate to stories about people overcoming a challenge.

Engaging in 30 Day Challenges this past year has really help me grow my gratitude due to intentional time spent reflecting. I have come to the realization I have a lot of MAGNIFICENCE in my life. Not necessarily important to others but having great significance to me.

When we develop the habit of becoming still it allows thoughts of appreciation to overwhelm us. I sometimes smile as I think of MAGNIFICENT people and events that have occurred in my life.

This post is about some of those moments for me.

  • Purchasing a bike with money I saved in 1965 from shoveling snow off neighbors sidewalks
  • Riding that bike home in 1967 with my first paycheck at a butcher shop.
  • The trips with friends or just being with them socially
  • Basketball practice
  • Being associated with all types of championship teams
  • Witnessing my children and former players graduate from college
  • Reading the about the successes of former players and assistant coaches
  • Visiting sacred places-two examples Gettysburg National Military Park and Mormon Tabernacle
  • Witnessing the birth of my five children-I have an honorary degree in Lamaze
  • Retiring with no regrets just joy from 43 years of working in higher ed.
  • Getting to spend time with my granddaughter
  • Having my family together
  • Appreciating the beauty of nature
  • Getting to serve others
  • Getting out of bed excited about the day ahead
  • Standing on the first tee early each morning with some fabulous friends.
  • Having a purpose in life

I am excited about the rest of today. I stand ready to see what MAGNIFICENT event or person I will encounter.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
