Today’s 30 Day Daily #Coach4adayChallenge is to identify your favorite film that won the OSCAR for Best Picture.

The awards were the brainchild of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), formed in 1927.

Best Picture has been a category since the 1920’s and the list includes some fantastic choices. Assisting you in making a choice I have provided a link to all the winners. In 1927 the first Oscar ceremony comprised of 12 categories including Best Film. Each January, the entertainment community and film fans around the world turn their attention to the Academy Awards.

On September 30, 2021 the Academy plans on opening their museum. When it opens it will be the largest institution in the United States devoted to the arts, sciences, and artists of moviemaking.

Best Picture

When you look at the entire list you may be challenged to come up with one choice. I encountered that dilemma as choices like Rain Man, Dancing With Wolves, Godfather, and Forrest Gump were all on the list.

In the end I went with a movie I never get tired of watching the 1957 film The Bridge on the River Kwai. The story is full of irony. British POWs are forced to build a railway bridge across the river Kwai for their Japanese captors, not knowing that the allied forces are planning to destroy it.

The film centers on an epic power struggle between captor and captives. Duty and honor is on display from two different perspectives. Of course it has a great theme song which includes whistling. That song is below.

What Oscar winning movie does everyone else have?
