Today the prompt for the 30 Day Daily #Coach4adayChallenge is WAFFLE HOUSE. Specifically what is your favorite thing to order there.

There is a possibility that some readers have never seen or eaten at a WAFFLE HOUSE. For most of the people I know that is not the case.

Waffle Houses can be found in 1,900 locations in 25 states.  All open 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Of the 1,900 locations over 250 can be found in the metro Atlanta GA area.

Back in March 2018 John Rancke did a guest post on this site on how they make their Scrambled Eggs and Cheese. As the name suggest WAFFLE HOUSE serves waffles in fact they put 128 million on the plate in 2019. Since the restaurant got its origins in the south there is a lingo to ordering one particular item on the menu and that is hash browns.

The lingo, according to the restaurant chain, first gained traction in the mid-1980s.

To begin, Waffle House hash browns come “scattered” in three different sizes: regular, large or triple.

Guide to ordering Hash Browns at Waffle House

If you just want plain ol’ hash browns, order yourself a regular ‘browns, scattered.

Plain not your style? Ask for hash browns scattered on the grill with any of the following:

They are: smothered (with sautéed onions), covered (topped with melted American cheese), chunked (with grilled chunks of hickory smoked ham), diced (with grilled tomatoes), peppered (topped with jalapeños peppers), capped (with grilled mushrooms), topped (with Bert’s chili, which is made of sausage, beans, and other veggies), and country (doused with sausage gravy).

Favorite Order at Waffle House

Plain waffle and coffee. Not very dramatic or complicated but that is what I most often get when dining there. What does menu items does everyone else favor?
