#Volunteer September 23
We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
Alfred Einstein was a pretty smart man. Many dub him as the most influential physicist of the 20th century. He made many contributions to mankind.
He has a quote that I love.
“Not everything that counts can be counted. And not everything that can be counted, counts.”
Sometimes that quote applies to when an individual chooses to VOLUNTEER.
What is a volunteer? What is the value of volunteering?
Volunteering is about giving, contributing and helping other individuals and the community. Volunteering means working with others to make a meaningful contribution to a better community.
People volunteer for an endless variety of reasons. This past week Coach4aday sponsored a golf tournament to honor Steven Bourquin. The event was a success because of the sponsors, golfers, and volunteers.
Many people VOLUNTEER to gain experience, acquire new skills, meet new people or expand their network of contacts as a way to get a new job or start a career. Others just want to give back to their community, help a friend or promote a worthwhile activity. They do it because it makes them feel good. Trust me when you VOLUNTEER it makes you a better leader and person.
Albert Einstein was correct with his quote.
We can add up the VOLUNTEER hours, but can’t place a dollar value on it.
Sometimes people attempt to do this. The mistake with that thinking is that it infers that if work isn’t paid for, it isn’t valuable. It reduces the act of choosing to VOLUNTEER to hours worked instead of contributions made.
VOLUNTEER and it will make a difference to someone and that is priceless.
