For December 2023, several of us are participating in the “30-Day ANATOMY Coach4aday Challenge.” My choice today is the VERTEBRAL Column.

During this challenge, the participants select a bone or muscle in the human body, providing details about its location and physiological significance.

How the Challenge Works

  1. Identify one anatomical part of the body.
  2. Describe what its purpose is.
  3. Describe where it is located.

Identify Your Choice

The Vertebral Column is a collective term for a series of thirty-three bones.

Purpose

The vertebral column provides structural support and stability to the body, forming the central axis. It encases and protects the spinal cord, facilitating communication between the brain and the rest of the body.

Additionally, the vertebral column allows for a wide range of movements and flexibility, enabling activities such as bending, twisting, and maintaining an upright posture.

Location

The vertebral column is the long, flexible structure that runs down the middle of your back, commonly known as the spine.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
