Today’s #Coach4aday post is on UNINCORPORATED land in various US States.

My next-door neighbors are traveling out west, and they have sent me some messages about the wide-open spaces they have been to. Those areas are unincorporated and not attached to any city or town. It is not a myth the Western US does have lots of areas that are not developed. Here in Robeson County the largest area just might be Philadelphus.

States with lots of space

The state with the most unincorporated land area is Nevada. In fact, about 85% of Nevada’s land is owned by the federal government. Most of it is managed by various agencies such as the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service. Additionally, much of the land in Nevada’s rural areas is unincorporated, meaning it is not part of any city or town and therefore lacks a local government structure.

Nevada’s largest unincorporated parcel of land is the “Creech AFB Military Reservation.” Creech covers an area of approximately 3.9 million acres. It is located in Clark and Nye counties in southern Nevada and is used primarily for military training and testing activities. The area is managed by the United States Air Force and is home to the Creech Air Force Base, which serves as a major center for drone operations and pilot training.

Other states with significant amounts of unincorporated land include Utah, Idaho, and Arizona.
