I learned something new on Sunday as I listened to my pastor David Ruth deliver a sermon. Martin Luther in 1534 translated the Old Testament written in Greek and the Old Testament written in Latin to German.

Luther Bible

He performed most of his work to TRANSLATE The Martin Luther Bible at the Wartburg castle, where he was held prisoner by Frederick the Wise of Saxony for his own safety from May, 1521 to April, 1522.

Martin Luther made the Bible available to the common man. The decision to TRANSLATE combined with the printing press changed the world. No longer were a few educated priests in control of what was included in the Bible.

English is the third most widely-spoken language in terms of native speakers, of which it has at least 330 million. But if you count the people who speak it as a second language, it’s the most popular language in the world. Yet translation is still important.

People get moved by the language they are most comfortable with. Keep that in mind when you have to TRANSLATE a message to someone who does not understand English.

Technology can help -Google has just the tool called GOOGLE TRANSLATE
