Today’s #Coach4aday post is on the TRACE Elements found in the human body.

The four major elements found in the human body are oxygen (O), carbon (C), hydrogen (H), and nitrogen (N), which together make up over 99% of the body’s mass.

In addition to these major elements, there are also trace elements found in the body, which are present in much smaller amounts but are still important for various biological processes.

List of Trace Elements in Human Body

There are 118 known elements, ranging from hydrogen (1) to oganesson (118). Each element has its own unique atomic number and chemical properties, which make up the diversity of matter in the universe.

Some examples of trace elements found in the body include calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), sodium (Na), chlorine (Cl), magnesium (Mg), and iron (Fe).

Each one has a role. For instance, Phosphorus plays a vital role in the human body, being a key component of DNA, RNA, and ATP, which are important molecules involved in energy metabolism, cell signaling, and bone mineralization.

Magnesium is required for a wide range of biological processes including energy metabolism, protein synthesis, and nerve function, as well as maintaining healthy bones and muscles.

Chlorine plays an important role in maintaining the body’s fluid balance, regulating blood pressure, and supporting the function of the digestive system.

Small amounts of various elements impact our overall health.
