STRUCTURE can be physical place but it also can be a concept or model on how to live your life.

As part of the #Coach4aday Challenge for June many of us are sharing happy places. I am using STRUCTURE not to define a building, a work of art, or engineering marvel. I am referring to how you organize your life. When my day is full of organized routine it takes me to a happy place.

Back in November I got to spend four wonderful days at the beach with my wife, four of our five children, my son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and 3 year old granddaughter Bryleigh.

Most of my family on the beach in November 2020

When you have that many people in one house you need to have some boundaries. That especially held true for Bryleigh who is a ball of energy.

A few years ago I recorded a quote in my journal about boundaries:

“Boundaries create Structure-Structure creates Freedom”

I don’t think the quote refers to physical boundaries but rather personal boundaries. When we can define our purpose in life it creates the freedom to pursue it. That freedom comes from creating STRUCTURE in our life that ties back to our purpose. When my days are geared to pursuing my purpose in life I am happy.

Without STRUCTURE in your life you allow others to tell you how to think, act, and feel. It results in your time and energy doing what others want versus accomplishing your own unique purpose. Over the course of day, week, month or lifetime this will lead to frustration and depression because you will feel unfulfilled or lost.

Learn to plan and organize you life with STRUCTURE. Make sure that it is unique to your life’s purpose and you will arrive at a happy place.
