For September I am participating in the 30-Day Literary Lesson Coach4aday Challenge today the lesson is on SIGNIFICANCE.

There seems to be an internal quest for all of us to become significant. It is the quality of being worthy. Many people struggle with the self-concept of not being good enough. John Maxwell has a book called The Power of Significance.

Literary Lesson on Significance

SIGNIFICANCE in this book is described as a quality only achieved through a life of discovering your “why” in life and acting on it.

Finding your why or purpose in life is not easy. It is often a journey. I will say that discovery of your purpose may become easier if you approach doing the ordinary in an extraordinary way.

If you have a job, I am quite certain there are components of it that seem dull boring or not exciting to you. I may be getting ready to step on your toes, but we decide if how we perform those tasks are dull or dynamic. When we decide to perform in extraordinary ways SIGNIFICANCE will follow. How we go about our work and becoming significant go hand in hand.

When we decide to do the ordinary in an extraordinary way we make a difference in people’s lives. Making a difference means affecting another person, group, or some challenge or situation. When your why starts including paying attention to others, giving them respect, and delivering results that exceed expectations you not only make a difference you attain SIGNIFICANCE.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
