I recently did a presentation on how to best communicate and coach Gen Z.

One of the takeaways was that Gen Z uses two sources when they are doing a SEARCH for info. They use Google and their peers. I was curious about what techniques Gen Z might use when doing a SEARCH on Google.

Here is what I found on how they use shortcuts to assist with their SEARCH.

  1. Want to find words in the title you are searching for then type intitle: and what you are looking for-see below what came up when I put in intitle: google search tips

2.  Compare two or more things using “vs” between the keywords.
If you want to determine whether eating chicken is healthier than fish, “vs” will let you compare the two. The video tab has some interesting results.

3. Finetune your results- the location and time, from the ‘Tools’ tab.
Just click on ‘Tools’ once you’ve made a SEARCH -here is a search I did on Friday Aug 16 for Target and I choose past 24 hours.

Writing the postal code of a location after your keyword will yield results from that particular location.

ust remember when you are communicating with GEN Z they might be doing a SEARCH on what you have told them.

Gen Z thanks for showing me a better way.
