Today for Day 8 of the 30-Day Ingredient Coach4aday Challenge the theme is SAUCE.

When your last name is Kenney, and you discover a product with your name on it you become intrigued. That happened to one of my sons who lives in Virginia and found a jar of Kenney Sauce.

Kenney Sauce History

To get to the sauce you have to know the history of Biff-Burger Drive-Ins. They were a chain of drive-up restaurants located from Florida to Canada. The business was founded by Bruce and Earl Brane. Biff stood for “Best in Fast Food”. So, the signature of a hamburger at Biff-Burger was Biff Sauce.

There were lots of franchises of this business in the 1950’s including several owned in Virginia by William “Bill” Kenney. Came across a great blog called Broken Chains. That article informed that Bill Kenney eventually broke away from Biff-Burger and started his own chain of restaurants in Virginia called Kenney’s. They did a great comprehensive post on Kenney’s

Not only did Bill Kenney breakaway he created his own sauce.
