Today for the 30-Day Podcast Coach4aday Challenge my theme is RECRUITING.

When Coach4aday LLC was created I never imagined that performing executive searches would become a dominant part of the business model. Today RECRUITING is what most of my time is spent on. That has required an investment in learning what the best practices are in the RECRUITMENT industry. One way to learn is to listen to podcasts from subject matter experts.

Day 6 Podcast

In 2021 I discovered during a higher education search I was doing that many of the candidates had multiple experiences with large firms. As I interacted with them, I learned what they enjoyed and were not fond of. It became apparent that relational experiences resonated with the best leaders. That became the cornerstone of every search I have been part of. Create a relationship don’t worry about them applying. That will take care of itself.

During a search on Spotify I came across multiple podcasts on how to conduct searches. I became intrigued by “Recruiting Trailblazers” hosted by Marcus Edwardes

Marcus has spent his entire life in the field of RECRUITMENT. Experience has made his podcast informative for anyone in the field. College coaches and admission counselors can learn a few transferrable skills from the highly talented leaders Marcus interviews.

One guest that resonated with me was Michael Boitnott. He was on an episode called “How to win as a Relationship First Recruiter

Podcast Takeaways

  1. Focusing on the candidate’s needs over you attempting to convince them to apply.
  2. Producing content on social platforms can help you in recruiting
  3. Never forget you should always be hiring for attitude and the candidate’s ability to learn new skills.

Strengthening a relationship is the key in getting someone interested in a position. Too many think it is selling an opportunity. In recruiting becoming relational not transactional makes you a trailblazer.
