Today’s post is a RECAP of the #Coach4adayChallenge for July. This month it was to share daily history lesson.

Wow what a month it was. I was blown away by what others shared with me. Learning about Vidalia Onions, the fantastic life of Joseph Mitchell, backstory on the “Flim Flam Man“, and Claxton Fruit Cakes.

I  want to first say thanks to Jeff Neelon and Jaclyn Donovan for their diligence in posting almost daily during this challenge. They both earn a another #Coach4adayChallenge Coin.

History can help provide us with a sense of identity. Jeff and Jaclyn both did that for me. History helps us to understand present-day issues by asking deeper questions as to why things are the way they are. Only through the study of history can people really see and grasp the reasons for why events occur.

Final thought is that history gives us the opportunity to learn from others’ past mistakes. To everyone that read the posts this month I hope it resulted in each of us learning.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
