Today for the 30-Day Musial Instrument Coach4aday Challenge the post is going to feature the HARP.

Today being St. Valentines Day I decided to focus on an instrument associated with love. In some cultures, the HARP fits that classification. Many people associate Cupid with the sounds that the string of the harp make. Here is a link to a painting appearing in Philadelphia (The City of Brotherly Love)

Different Types

There are two main types of harps – lever harps and pedal harps. Many experts and music teachers agree that learning to play on the lever is better than starting on the pedal.

There are lots of harps available with various number of strings. The most common lever harps range between 19 and 40 strings. A pedal harp generally has 47 strings. There are three types of strings: nylon, gut and synthetic.
