Today for the 30-Day Musial Instrument Coach4aday Challenge the post is going to feature the BUGLE.

One of the interesting outcomes of researching musical instruments is locating websites dedicated to a single one. That is the case with Jari Villanueva site called Taps Bugler: Jari Villanueva. He spent 23 years in the USAF Band located in Washington DC.

Brief History

The Bugle is connected to military warfare. Armies have used signaling instruments ever since there have been organized militaries and eventually that included the bugle.

Jari has written hundreds of blog posts on all aspects of this brass horn. One that glimpsed into its role during the American Revolutionary War can be found here.

Was surprised to learn that for beginners it is a modestly priced instrument. The one below is on Amazon.

Bugle Calls

Located a short video that plays some of the more popular calls the military uses. Some of them will be very familiar including taps.
