#Pop October 6

My wife loves popcorn. She often makes up a bowl on a Sunday afternoon. She has popped popcorn a lot of different ways. She has a new gadget called the Colonel Popper Microwave Popcorn Maker she likes that causes the it to POP in the microwave. She likes the flavor and the ease of clean-up.
For many years she would make popcorn the traditional way. She would place some oil in the bottom of a pot, add some popcorn kernels, close the lid on the pot, and begin to POP over heat.
I came across a motivational poster about comparison last week that made me think of my wife making popcorn the traditional way.
Here is what it said:
“Popcorn is prepared in the same pot, in the same heat, in the same oil, and yet, the kernels do not POP at the same time. Don’t compare your life to others. Your turn to POP is coming”
Popping popcorn follows a traditional process that produces a result. We gather the kernels, coat them in oil, expose them to heat, shake, and they POP not at all the time but they POP. Even with my wife’s new gadget not all the kernels POP at the same time.
When you serve others you build influence. Leadership is all about influence. Trust the process of becoming a leader you have to serve others. Do not let comparison cause you to doubt that you will not POP as a leader. You will.
